     Chippie Girl   2001-2007

Have you ever had a pet that seemed more like a person than an animal? Chippie was certainly that kind of pet. She had a unique personality, a confident attitude, and a way of communicating her feelings that made her seem almost human. Even her facial expressions and her eyes were remarkable. Chippie’s intelligence made her the alpha dog among our menagerie of pets. As the leader of the brood, she seemed to take on the role of caretaker and protector of our animal family. When she wasn’t busy overseeing the activities of the other dogs and cats, Chippie could often be found relaxing on the back of the sofa watching television. Chippie began watching television as a puppy, and her favorite commercials were those with “dog actors.” She made it nearly impossible for anyone to watch animal shows, because as the protector of the household, Chippie would bark and jump up in front of the television until she successfully scared the animal intruders away. Chippie absolutely loved to “go bye bye” which she knew meant go for a ride. She was a great travel companion, but she could be pushy about wanting to drive. Chippie liked nothing better than a Saturday night ride under the stars in the convertible listening to “Country Gold.”

In February 2007, Chippie was diagnosed with cancer. She had a mast cell tumor on her left shoulder. In spite of all the efforts of our wonderful veterinarians and the cancer-fighting treatments and medications she took, Chippie passed away on August 10, 2007 at the age of 6.  Losing Chippie was like losing a best friend, but her memory lives on in our hearts and in Chippie On-The-Go.
